Nigerian Afrobeats star Tems will perform alongside music icons John Legend, Stevie Wonder and several international stars at the official opening of the Barack Obama Presidential Centre in Chicago on June 18.
Former United States President Barack Obama announced the lineup through an Instagram reel, unveiling a roster that also includes Bono & The Edge, Bruce Springsteen, Christina Aguilera, Common, Eddie Vedder, Jennifer Hudson, Marc Anthony, Marsai Martin and The Roots.
The centre is designed to function as a museum, library, educational hub, community space, conference facility and headquarters of the Obama Foundation.
Former First Lady Michelle Obama described the opening as a deeply personal milestone, noting that the South Side Chicago location was once an underutilised area she frequently passed while growing up.
She said the centre would provide young people with a space filled with history, hope, art and leadership opportunities.
The opening ceremony is expected to celebrate the Obama administration’s legacy while promoting leadership development, civic engagement and community empowerment.
