A Nigerian woman has triggered reactions online after recounting an awkward roadside encounter involving a man who described himself as a “traditional man” and rejected a lift offer based on seating arrangement.
In a viral video shared on X, she explained that the man flagged down her husband’s car while trekking under intense heat and asked for a ride to a nearby junction.
Her husband agreed and opened the back door, but the man refused to enter. According to the woman, he insisted that tradition forbade him from sitting at the back while a woman occupied the front passenger seat.
He reportedly asked the husband to tell his wife to move to the back so he could sit in front.
The request stunned the couple. As the man repeated his stance, the husband chose to drive off, leaving him behind.
The incident has since divided social media, with many questioning the logic of invoking tradition in a stranger’s car.
