Kenneth Okonkwo, a chieftain of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), has warned that he may be forced to disclose confidential information if Peter Obi proceeds with a threatened ₦5 billion defamation lawsuit against him.

The former Labour Party spokesperson made the remark in a series of posts on X while responding to Obi’s legal threat following allegations that the former presidential candidate and members of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) south-east caucus demanded money from aspirants seeking party tickets.

The dispute stems from claims by Okonkwo that an Anambra house of representatives aspirant, Obunike Ohaegbu, alleged he was scammed of ₦10 million during the party’s primaries.

Ohaegbu later denied paying the money to Obi personally, saying the payment was made to the party’s account. Despite the denial, Okonkwo maintained his position, published screenshots of conversations with Ohaegbu, and challenged Obi to pursue the matter in court.

He described suing a former spokesperson as “very unwise” and insisted he would respond formally after reviewing the legal letter.
