Super Falcons Star Accuses Morocco Hotel Staff of Stealing Players’ Cash Before WAFCON

Super Falcons forward Esther Okoronkwo has accused staff of the Marriott Hotel in Casablanca, Morocco, of stealing cash from the rooms of several Nigerian players ahead of the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations, WAFCON.

The AFC Toronto striker made the allegation in a series of Snapchat posts, claiming hotel cleaning staff entered the players’ rooms while they were away and took money from their wallets.

Okoronkwo said she lost $700, adding that about $1,000 was allegedly stolen from affected players. She identified teammates Osinachi Ohale, Joy Omewa, Rasheedat Ajibade and Halimatu Ayinde as others who reportedly lost cash.

The striker also alleged that hotel management failed to provide satisfactory answers after the incident was reported and became disrespectful during discussions.

As of the time of filing this report, neither the Nigeria Football Federation nor Marriott Hotel Casablanca had responded to the allegations. Nigeria begin their WAFCON title defence against Malawi on July 28.
