Nigerian singer Simi has revealed that her highly anticipated collaboration with Chike, titled “Where You Dey”, was delayed due to health challenges and pregnancy.
The song, first teased last year, could not meet its original release schedule as Simi struggled with sickness, fatigue, and nausea during the recording and promotion stages.
Sharing her experience on X, Simi explained, “I really, really, really wanted to drop this song last year… I was sick and weak and nauseous and tired, and my body just wouldn’t do what I wanted it to.”
She praised Chike for his professionalism, noting that he joined her in the studio unaware of her condition.
Despite disliking the mastering process, Simi personally mixed and mastered the track herself, emphasizing the effort and resilience required to complete it.
She added that the release counters claims that she abandoned music for marriage, urging fans to appreciate the work behind the song.
