“Security Forces Saved My Sister And Her Twins Alive” — Adelabu Relieved As Police Neutralise Kidnappers

The Nigeria Police Force has successfully rescued Mrs Olaide Busayo Adegoke John-Paul, the younger sister of former Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu, and her 12-year-old twin sons, Peter and Paul, following a rescue operation in Oyo State.

The victims were freed alive at about 7:30 p.m. on Saturday after being abducted on June 3, 2026, while Mrs John-Paul was taking her children to school in Ibadan.

According to police sources, two suspected kidnappers were neutralised during a gun battle with operatives, while two firearms were recovered from the gang.

Security agencies said sustained intelligence gathering and tactical pressure forced the criminals into a confrontation that led to the rescue.

Authorities are still searching nearby communities for other members of the syndicate believed to have escaped with gunshot wounds.

Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde had earlier assured the family that security agencies were intensifying efforts to secure the victims’ safe return.
