The Chief of Staff to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Femi Gbajabiamila, has openly urged the National Leader of a faction of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) and member of the House of Representatives, Leke Abejide, to remain within the opposition party and continue “causing problems” in its ranks.
Gbajabiamila made the remark during a birthday celebration organised in honour of the lawmaker, where he also commended Abejide for what he described as his contribution to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
He further advised the legislator to ignore overtures from APC members encouraging him to defect to the ruling party.
“Don’t come to APC. Stay in ADC and scatter them. We like what you’re doing. Don’t mind former governor Yahaya Bello, who said you should join APC.
“No, no, no, stay in ADC and win your election. Also, bring Bala Gombe, and we’ll support him. Good luck in court,” he said.
The comments come amid ongoing internal divisions within the ADC, which has been embroiled in a leadership crisis that has split the party into rival factions.
