Nollywood actress Adunni Ade has announced her legal victory against Google after the Lagos High Court awarded her N30 million in general damages over publications that falsely linked her romantically to former Kogi senator Dino Melaye.
Sharing the court judgment on Instagram, the actress declared that some battles are best fought in the courtroom.
According to the judgment delivered by Justice I.O. Harrison on July 9, 2025, the court also ordered Google to remove the disputed publications from Google.com and YouTube and delete Ade’s name and photograph from the articles.
The actress had sued Google and Meta in July 2024, seeking N100 million in damages over what she described as false and misleading reports that caused emotional and psychological distress.
Although she later discontinued the case against Meta, the court ruled against Google, holding that linking her identity to the publications violated her constitutional right to privacy.
