“No More Naira Payments” — Dangote Refinery Switches Petrol Sales to US Dollars

Dangote Refinery has officially commenced the sale of Premium Motor Spirit (petrol) in United States dollars, fixing its new ex-depot price at $0.779 per litre as it completes its transition from naira-denominated transactions.

The revised pricing, which took effect on Monday, also sets Automotive Gas Oil (diesel) at $1.087 per litre, Aviation Turbine Kerosene at $0.942 per litre and coastal petrol deliveries at $1,044.62 per metric tonne.

The refinery said the move invalidates all previously issued naira-denominated Proforma Invoices and Deal Recaps for gantry and coastal transactions, instructing customers not to make payments against them.

According to a notice signed by its Group Commercial Operations, the transition follows an earlier communication issued on July 9 regarding the adoption of dollar-based transactions.

The development marks a significant shift in Dangote Refinery’s commercial operations and could influence pricing dynamics across Nigeria’s deregulated downstream petroleum sector.
