The Nigerian naira traded steadily against the United States dollar on Thursday, April 2, 2026, maintaining recent gains in the official market.
At the Nigerian Foreign Exchange Market, the currency exchanged at an average of ₦1,382.45 to the dollar during early trading, reflecting marginal movement from the previous session.
The performance follows a 0.58 per cent appreciation recorded on Wednesday, when the naira closed at ₦1,378.70.
Market analysts attribute the relative stability to sustained interventions by the Central Bank of Nigeria, alongside improved foreign exchange inflows driven by recent remittance reforms.
In the parallel market, the dollar traded between ₦1,410 and ₦1,415, indicating a modest strengthening of the local currency.
The gap between official and black market rates remained within manageable levels, signalling progress towards exchange rate convergence.
Analysts expect the naira to trade within a narrow band in the near term.
