Naira Gains Slightly Against Dollar

The Naira recorded a modest appreciation against the United States dollar at the official foreign exchange market on Thursday, marking its first gain for the week.

Data from the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) showed that the Naira strengthened to ₦1,441.44 per dollar on Thursday, up from ₦1,443.08 on Wednesday. This reflects a daily gain of ₦1.64 against the greenback.

At the parallel (black) market, however, the Naira held steady at ₦1,465 per dollar, maintaining the same rate as Wednesday.

The local currency had experienced a generally bearish trend throughout the week, with the steepest depreciation occurring on Wednesday before Thursday’s slight recovery.

Meanwhile, the CBN’s foreign reserves continued to climb, rising to $43.42 billion as of November 12, 2025, up from $43.39 billion recorded the previous day.

Analysts suggest that the Naira’s minor rebound at the official market reflects cautious optimism in the forex market, while the parallel market remains largely stable.
