“My parents thought it was fraud money” — Zlatan reveals why they rejected his ₦70m house gift

Nigerian music star Zlatan Ibile has revealed that his parents initially rejected a house he bought for them due to suspicions about his source of wealth.

Speaking in a recent interview, the singer disclosed that after purchasing the property in Lekki in 2019 at age 25, his parents refused to move in, believing the money may have been linked to internet fraud.

According to Zlatan, he had to present his account statements and involve a lawyer to prove that his earnings came legitimately from music.

He further recounted his strict upbringing, noting that even after accepting the gift, his parents imposed conditions, including living with them and adhering to curfews.

Zlatan added that his parents insisted on spiritual confirmation before relocating, reflecting their caution despite his rising fame.

The revelation has since sparked reactions online, with many debating African parenting values and discipline.
