Veteran comic actor Nkem Owoh, popularly known as Osuofia, has revealed that his journey into acting was unplanned and began accidentally after he worked as a scriptwriter behind the scenes.
Speaking on the Selah Meditate podcast, Owoh said colleagues who noticed his natural comedic ability encouraged him to start performing in front of the camera.
He recalled being given a seven-minute stand-up comedy slot by a television station in the 1980s after making crew members laugh off-camera.
According to him, he initially agreed reluctantly due to persistent pressure but later discovered that audiences responded positively, which marked the beginning of his acting career.
Owoh also reflected on fame, saying it took away his freedom and placed restrictions on his daily life, adding that many people underestimate the downsides of celebrity status despite its benefits and public admiration in Nigeria entertainment space.
