A young woman abducted in Kasuwan Magani, Kajuru Local Government Area of Kaduna State, has regained her freedom after spending about five months in captivity, with medical checks later revealing she is pregnant.
The development was disclosed by a former media aide to the late Kaduna State Governor, Patrick Yakowa, Mr Reuben Buhari, in a post shared on his verified Facebook page.
According to Buhari, the victim was among four persons kidnapped when armed men attacked a residence where she had been caring for her critically ill mother. He said the assailants took the victims into the bush, where they were held for months under harsh conditions until a ransom was eventually paid.
He added that upon her release, the woman was rushed to a hospital due to her frail state. Medical personnel, he said, later confirmed she was pregnant, a condition believed to be connected to the abuse she endured while in captivity.
Buhari further revealed that the victim arrived at the hospital in a critical condition and required urgent stabilisation, including a blood transfusion, before further treatment could begin.
Detailing her ordeal, he noted that she suffered severe hardship, including prolonged trekking without footwear, which left her feet swollen and painful. He described the experience as deeply traumatic, adding that many aspects of captivity are often too distressing to recount.
