Iran has placed a preliminary estimate of $270 billion on the cost of the war it says was launched by the United States and Israel in February, as Tehran moves to quantify losses and press for reparations.
Government spokeswoman Fatemeh Mohajerani disclosed the figure on Tuesday in remarks to RIA Novosti, describing it as an initial assessment pending a broader evaluation.
Mohajerani said the process of arriving at a comprehensive figure would begin with a detailed review of damage to infrastructure and buildings across affected areas.
She noted that authorities would subsequently factor in wider economic losses, including disruptions to revenue generation and the impact on tax inflows.
The Iranian government, she added, intends to seek compensation from both the United States and Israel once the full scale of the damage is established.
According to her, the issue of reparations has already featured in ongoing diplomatic engagements, including recent direct talks between Iranian and U.S. officials held over the weekend in Islamabad.
