Nigerian Afrobeats star, Asake, has been named the most-streamed artist on Spotify in Nigeria, as the platform celebrates five years of operations in Nigeria, Kenya, and Ghana.
His hit track, Remember, claimed the top spot as the most-streamed song, while Lonely at the Top ranked among the nation’s top five.
Asake’s recognition reflects his unique blend of street pop, Afrobeats, and energetic dance music that has gone viral across TikTok and other digital platforms.
His album Lungu Boy made history as the first African project to top Spotify’s global debut chart.
Spotify revealed that Nigerian listeners, with an average age of 26, have created over 25 million playlists in the past five years, underscoring the influence of a young, digitally-savvy audience.
Asake’s achievement highlights the global rise of Nigerian music and Afrobeats as a dominant cultural force on streaming platforms.
