“I’m growing sonically” — Ayra Starr opens up on new album, journey into womanhood

Afrobeats star Ayra Starr has described her forthcoming third studio album as a reflection of her personal growth and evolving sound as she embraces womanhood.

Speaking during an Apple Music Radio takeover, the 23-year-old singer revealed she is experimenting with new sounds while rediscovering joy in her creative process.

According to her, the project marks a shift from taking music too seriously to allowing herself more freedom and fun.

“I’m literally becoming a woman, and you can hear that in my music… I’m growing sonically and trying different things,” she said.

Ayra Starr admitted she previously “lost the plot” by overthinking her craft but has now regained balance.

“I brought the fun back, and we’re enjoying ourselves,” she added.

The singer has yet to confirm the album title but has released “Where Do We Go” as its lead single.
