A Nigerian woman has sparked debate online after defending her husband’s decision to skip a long-time friend’s wedding, following what she described as a lack of reciprocity during their son’s naming ceremony.
She explained that the friendship which began in university had remained close over the years with her husband once travelling from Lagos to Ogun State to attend the friend’s introduction ceremony.
However tensions arose when the friend failed to attend their child’s naming ceremony despite confirming attendance later claiming their home was too far away.
“He sent ₦10,000,” she said noting their disappointment. The situation worsened when the friend later added her husband to his wedding planning group.
Her husband initially considered attending but eventually declined saying if their home was too far for his event then the wedding venue was also too far.
The post has continued to generate mixed reactions online as users debate loyalty expectations.
