President Bola Tinubu’s Chief of Staff, Femi Gbajabiamila, on Monday honoured an invitation by the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) as part of the ongoing investigation into the controversial Presidential Foreign Investment Promotion Council (PFIPC).
Gbajabiamila’s lawyer, Jiti Ogunye, confirmed that the presidential aide appeared before investigators at the ICPC headquarters in Abuja at about 3:00 p.m., where he responded to questions concerning the alleged activities of the controversial agency. Ogunye said his client fully cooperated with investigators, gave his testimony and returned to his official duties after the session.
The investigation follows President Bola Tinubu’s July 2 directive ordering the ICPC to conduct a comprehensive probe into the PFIPC controversy amid allegations surrounding the operations of the purported agency.
The directive, conveyed by the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, also instructed the anti-graft agency to conclude its investigation and submit a comprehensive report within 30 days.
