Veteran Nollywood actress Bukky Wright has dismissed claims that women are gold diggers, insisting that men have a responsibility to provide for the women they choose to date and marry.
Speaking during a recent interview on relationships, finances and gender roles, Wright said a woman should be a source of pride to her partner and should never settle for less than she deserves.
She argued that men who cannot meet the financial responsibilities of a relationship should either pursue partners within their means or avoid dating until they are capable. According to the actress, criticising women for seeking financially stable partners is unfair because every woman deserves to be well cared for.
She maintained that women should not lower their standards to satisfy public opinion, stressing that the burden of affordability rests on the man. Wright’s remarks have added to ongoing conversations about expectations, finances and responsibilities in modern relationships.
