Businessman and political commentator Isaac Fayose has announced plans to independently monitor the forthcoming Ekiti State governorship election through a large-scale livestreaming project aimed at boosting transparency.
Speaking ahead of the poll, Fayose disclosed that he is seeking 1,000 volunteers who will be stationed across polling units in the state on election day.
He said each volunteer would receive ₦5,000 to livestream voting and collation activities using mobile phones or recording devices.
According to him, the initiative is designed to allow Nigerians and the international community to observe the conduct of the election in real time.
Fayose added that the livestreams would help expose vote-buying, intimidation and any alleged malpractice involving election officials or other actors.
He stressed that citizen-led monitoring could complement official oversight and strengthen public confidence in the electoral process.
The announcement has sparked debate online over transparency, legality and the growing role of technology in Nigerian elections.
