“I Left When Mercy Chinwo Turned It Into a Concert” — Daddy Freeze Recounts Experience at Alex Ekubo’s Service of Songs

Media personality Daddy Freeze has criticised aspects of the Service of Songs held for late Nollywood actor Alex Ekubo, revealing that he left the event after gospel singer Mercy Chinwo’s ministration.

Speaking in a video shared on Instagram, Freeze apologised for attending the event in black attire, explaining that he was unaware of the white dress code.

He recounted that gospel singer Nathaniel Bassey told attendees he had planned to visit and pray for Alex before his death, a statement Freeze questioned while expressing doubts about miracle claims.

The broadcaster also faulted a pastor’s sermon at the gathering, arguing that such messages were unnecessary at a memorial event and noting reports that four phones were allegedly stolen despite the preaching.

Freeze further claimed that Mercy Chinwo’s performance transformed the solemn occasion into a concert, prompting his departure.

He also criticised actor Yul Edochie for comments about Alex’s wife and reiterated his belief that Alex’s breakup with former fiancée Fancy Acholonu deeply affected the actor before his death.
