Nollywood actor Yomi Fabiyi has renewed public interest in the investigation into the death of singer Ilerioluwa Aloba, popularly known as Mohbad, after claiming he is in possession of a video that allegedly shows how the former Marlian Music artiste died.
Fabiyi made the claim in a video posted on social media, insisting that the footage was sent to him months earlier by individuals who, he alleged, attempted to extort him with the material.
In the clip, the actor directed his message to President Bola Tinubu, recalling that he had earlier alerted the Presidency about the matter.
“President Bola Tinubu, I wrote to you in May 2025 that Mohbad was murdered. Part of the video was sent to me in an apparent attempt to extort me. Your office wrote and gave a directive to the Inspector General of Police that they should investigate, harmonise, and prosecute.”
Fabiyi further alleged that investigators at the Force Criminal Investigation Department, Abuja, had examined the case file and identified individuals he described as “key suspects” in a suspected cover-up.
According to him, Mohbad’s wife also reported to the FCID during the course of the inquiry.> “As of November 2025, after the FCID in Abuja noted key suspects already complicit in the alleged cover-up, the wife of the deceased turned herself in Abuja,” he said.
“Now they want to cover it up. They are even asking the same suspects to write a petition against me over illegal arrests.”
Fabiyi also accused some police officers of attempting to intimidate him because of the evidence he claims to have received.
“This suspect wants to silence me because they want to use the video against you,” he alleged.“I am putting my life on the line to stand by this government and to speak the truth.”
His comments have drawn widespread reactions on social media, with many Nigerians urging him to submit the alleged evidence to investigators rather than making public appeals.
