“I Give God All The Glory” — Kenneth Okonkwo Reacts As Atiku Appoints Him Spokesperson

Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has appointed African Democratic Congress chieftain Kenneth Okonkwo as his spokesperson, weeks after the actor-turned-politician publicly criticised the party’s choice of vice-presidential candidate for the 2027 general election.

Announcing the appointment on his official X page, Okonkwo thanked Atiku for the confidence reposed in him and described the decision as a reflection of the former vice president’s leadership style.

He said Atiku chose dialogue and compromise instead of taking offence over differing opinions, adding that discussions with party leaders had addressed and guaranteed the interests of the South-East despite challenges posed by the Electoral Act, 2026.

Okonkwo also expressed appreciation to Dr Kashim Imam, former ADC National Chairman Ralphs Nwosu and Dr Ekene Onwuka for their contributions.

His appointment comes after he raised concerns over the party’s vice-presidential selection before the ADC eventually named former Rivers State Governor Rotimi Amaechi as Atiku’s running mate.
