A Nigerian woman has accused a hospital of negligence and a possible baby swap after claiming she was told she delivered a healthy baby boy, only to later discover a deceased baby girl.
She said she went into labour around 4:35am and was rushed to hospital by her husband. A nurse informed her she had delivered a baby boy but advised her to rest due to exhaustion. However, when she later attempted to see her newborn, she claims the situation changed dramatically.
The woman alleged that the baby presented to her was not the same child she was told she delivered. Her husband demanded a DNA test after sensing inconsistencies which raised doubts about the child’s identity.
The family who had waited nearly seven years for a child has demanded explanations from the hospital. The case has sparked online reactions and concerns about maternity care and hospital accountability in Nigeria.
