“I Don’t Want Any of My Children to Pursue Music” — Davido Opens Up on Family Decision

Afrobeats superstar David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has revealed that he does not want any of his children to pursue music professionally, saying his stance is influenced by the challenges he faced while building his career.

Speaking during a Vibe interview, the award-winning singer disclosed that his second daughter, Hailey, is already showing strong interest in music and possesses a good singing voice, but admitted he remains uncertain about encouraging her because of the realities of the industry.

“I don’t want any of my children to pursue music. My second daughter is already leaning towards music. She actually has a good voice. But I know what I went through,” he said.

Despite his concerns, Davido stressed that he would never prevent his children from chasing their dreams, recalling how his own parents eventually supported his ambition.

He added that if any of them are genuinely talented and passionate about music, he would allow them to follow their chosen path.
