Popular skitmaker Kevin Chinedu, widely known as Amuneke, has declined an offer to serve as a youth ambassador for the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, citing restrictions on free expression.
In a video shared on X on Monday, Amuneke said he initially welcomed the offer, describing it as a significant national recognition of his journey as a content creator.
“Reports came to me that I was going to be appointed as INEC Youth Ambassador. I have never felt as proud,” he said.
However, he explained that his decision changed after seeking clarity on whether he could continue criticising the commission.“I asked if I would still be able to criticise INEC. They said I could not criticise directly,” he added.
Amuneke said the condition conflicted with his platform, which focuses on political satire and accountability, stressing that preserving his voice outweighed the honour.
