“I Am a Street Girl”: Bimbo Ademoye Stands Down Extortionists on Film Set in Viral Confrontation

Nollywood actress Bimbo Ademoye faced down area boys attempting to extort money from her film crew during an outdoor shoot in Lagos, a viral video showed Thursday.

The men demanded a “settlement” — a common tactic targeting movie productions in public spaces. But Ademoye, speaking in English and Pidgin, refused to be intimidated.“I am a street girl, let me tell you,” she declared.

“Ask around, when it comes to matters of the street, I like settling boys. But you don’t come to me and tell me to give you a certain amount.”

When one man threatened to switch off her camera, she fired back: “Camera that nobody in your generation has.”

No weapons were drawn, and the situation did not escalate physically, but the confrontation halted filming. The actress insisted she willingly compensates people around her sets but would never bow to ultimatums.

The video drew widespread praise online, with fans celebrating Ademoye’s composure and courage in standing up to street extortion.
