Veteran Nollywood actor and producer, Solomon Akiyesi, has died. His passing was confirmed on Monday by the President of the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN), Abubakar Yakubu, who disclosed that the actor died in Abuja under unclear circumstances.
According to Yakubu, Akiyesi “slept and did not wake up,” and his body has been deposited in a morgue in the Federal Capital Territory.
The guild said it is awaiting further details from the family to determine the exact cause of death. Akiyesi, who hailed from Ososo in Akoko-Edo Local Government Area of Edo State, began his acting career in the late 1990s.
Over the years, he built an impressive portfolio, featuring in more than 100 Nollywood productions, including Marry Who You Love, Deadly Affair, and Desperate Ladies.
Colleagues, fans, and admirers have since taken to social media to mourn the late actor, paying tribute to his legacy.
