“He borrowed to check result” – UTME candidate heartbroken after scoring 149

A Nigerian man has sparked reactions online after reportedly being left devastated over his 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination result.

The incident, which surfaced on Tuesday, April 21, 2026, was shared by a TikTok user, @guywithvey, who identified the candidate as his close friend.

According to the post, the man borrowed ₦9,000 from a loan app to settle an outstanding airtime debt before checking his result, following recent restrictions on borrowing services by telecom providers.

However, upon accessing his result, he scored 149, a development that reportedly left him heartbroken. “My guy paid back MTN 9k to check his JAMB result for him to see 149 as score.

The money he used to pay MTN too na loan,” the caption read. A video accompanying the post showed the candidate sitting on the floor, visibly distressed.

The post has since gone viral, attracting widespread reactions and sympathy from social media users.
