A Nigerian university student, Okih Bukola, has gone viral after sharing her comical first attempt at shaving her pubic hair.
In a Facebook post, she recounted the pressures of peer influence when she noticed every girl in her hostel using shaving sticks.
“At first, I thought only men used them for beards, so I ignored it,” Bukola said.
Her curiosity peaked after a roommate confronted her, asking why she hadn’t shaved, prompting her to try it for the first time.
Bukola locked herself in the bathroom, nervously attempting the task, only to face severe itching shortly after.
She described trying to discreetly manage the discomfort during lectures, comparing herself humorously to “someone chasing an invisible goat.”
Bukola later learned that shaving against the direction of hair growth caused the irritation.
Her story has sparked laughter and discussion online, highlighting the relatable awkward moments of growing up and peer pressure.
