The ceremony took place at The Monarch Event Centre, where family members, friends, colleagues and dignitaries gathered dressed entirely in white in line with the wishes of the Ekubo family.
Alex Ekubo passed away on May 11, 2026, following a battle with kidney cancer.
Among the notable attendees were Funke Akindele, Kate Henshaw, Chioma Akpotha, Ebele Okaro, Nancy Isime, Ruth Kadiri, Nkechi Blessing, Stan Nze, Blessing Obasi, IK Ogbonna, Ebuka Obi-Uchendu, singer Chike and Cubana Chief Priest.
The evening featured worship sessions led by gospel ministers Peterson Okopi and Ebuka Songs, while Pastor Jerry Eze, Nathaniel Bassey and Kaestrings also ministered.
The family had earlier urged the public to keep them in prayers. Funeral activities will continue in Abia State with a wake-keep on June 17 and burial on June 18
