“Date Within Your Wage” — Toke Makinwa Advises Singles on Relationships and Money

Media personality Toke Makinwa has advised singles to date within their financial class, saying it helps reduce unnecessary pressure and improves understanding in relationships.

Speaking on the MENtality podcast hosted by Ebuka Obi-Uchendu, Makinwa said financial mismatch is one of the major reasons many relationships struggle.

She stressed that partners within the same income bracket are more likely to support each other through difficult times without resentment.

“I am a big believer in dating within your wage and within your class. That way, there will not be stories that touch,” she said, adding that some women willingly support their partners financially yet still face betrayal.

Makinwa also argued that money does not change people but reveals their true character, noting that many women fear building with men before they become successful because some later abandon partners who stood by them.

She added that such experiences contribute to the perception that many men treat loyal partners unfairly after achieving wealth.
