Nollywood actor Daniel Etim Effiong has stirred conversations online after stating that partners who cheat in relationships should receive support and guidance instead of immediate condemnation.
Speaking during an appearance on the “Diary of a Naija Girl” podcast, the actor said infidelity should be treated as a behavioural problem that requires healing and honest intervention.
According to him, many people focus on anger and blame without trying to understand the emotional or psychological issues behind such actions.
Etim Effiong explained that couples facing betrayal should first seek ways to address the root cause of the problem before discussing reconciliation or punishment.
“If someone messes up in a marriage, it should first come from a place of, ‘How can I help you?’” he said.
The actor also compared cheating to behaviours like lying and stealing, stressing that accountability and emotional support are both necessary in resolving relationship problems.
His comments have since generated mixed reactions across social media platforms.
