“Dancing Can’t Give Me the Money I Want”: Asake Reveals Why He Quit Dance for Music

Singer Asake has revealed that he quit professional dancing to focus entirely on music, admitting dancing could not deliver the level of income he desired.

In an interview with African Voices, the ‘Lonely At The Top’ crooner said: “I love dancing so much, I can’t do without dancing, but the truth is I had to leave it because of my love for money. I know the type of money I want, dancing can’t give me.”

The 30-year-old artist, who gained early online attention through dance performances, transitioned to music and has since become one of Nigeria’s biggest names.

Despite leaving dance professionally, Asake insisted he still enjoys dancing personally and continues to do so.

He also reaffirmed that his respect and loyalty to former label boss Olamide remain unchanged, dismissing split rumours.

Asake’s confession sheds light on the financial realities behind career choices in the entertainment industry, with music proving far more lucrative than dance for the award-winning singer.
