Court Affirms David Mark’s ADC Leadership as Atiku Vows to Continue 2027 Presidential Bid

The Federal High Court in Abuja has affirmed the leadership of Senator David Mark in the African Democratic Congress, prompting former Vice President Atiku Abubakar to declare that he remains committed to pursuing the 2027 presidency.

Justice Musa Liman dismissed a suit challenging the party’s leadership, ruling that the matter concerned the ADC’s internal affairs, which are not justiciable, and held that the plaintiff lacked the legal standing to institute the case.

The court also found that the emergence of David Mark and Rauf Aregbesola complied with the party’s constitution and the Electoral Act, 2026, while awarding costs against the plaintiff and his counsel.

Reacting to the judgment, Atiku described the ruling as a victory for constitutional democracy and the rule of law.

The ADC equally welcomed the decision, insisting it validated its leadership and strengthened its resolve to provide credible opposition ahead of the 2027 general election.
