Nollywood actor Jide Awobona has announced the launch of his akara business, revealing that he is available to cater for events, travel for bookings and offer tutoring services.
Sharing a video of himself frying akara on Instagram, the actor urged Nigerians to support his new venture, declaring that “Jide Alakara” is ready to serve customers at weddings, burials, naming ceremonies, intimate gatherings and other events.
His announcement drew humorous reactions from colleagues, with Rachael Adelaja calling him “Cooperate Alakara,” while Rotimi Salami jokingly asked him to open a branch in Ajangbadi.
The development comes amid growing interest in small-scale food businesses following First Lady Oluremi Tinubu’s advice encouraging Nigerians to consider ventures such as akara, roasted corn and kuli-kuli.
Awobona had previously joked about starting an akara business after reacting to the expensive Asoebi prices for Peller and Jarvis’ wedding, saying he needed another source of income.
