Bandits Kill Vice-Principal, Abduct 25 Female Students in Fresh Kebbi Attack

Bandits have launched a deadly attack on the Government Girls Comprehensive Senior Secondary School (GGCSS) in Maga, Danko/Wasagu Local Government Area of Kebbi State, killing the Vice-Principal, Hassan Yakubu Makuku, and abducting an unspecified number of students.

Maga, a community that has faced multiple attacks in recent months, was thrown into fear and mourning following Monday’s assault. Residents said the gunmen struck the school around 5 a.m., encountering no resistance.

“The attack has created panic among residents of Maga. We are now in fear and mourning,” said Aliyu Yakubu, a local resident.

He added that the Vice-Principal was shot while trying to shield the students from the attackers. “He was shot as he tried to protect his students from being taken by the bandits. It’s a great loss for the community and the school,” Yakubu said.

The Chief Press Secretary to the governor, Ahmed Idris, disclosed that the Deputy Governor, Senator Umar Tafida, had been dispatched to the school to assess the situation on behalf of Governor Nasir Idris, who is currently out of the state.

“The deputy governor is on his way to know the exact situation. The governor is not in the state for now, but his deputy will go on his behalf until he returns at any moment from now,” Idris said.

Concerned parents and residents are awaiting official updates on the fate of the abducted girls.
