The Nigerian Army on Wednesday conducted the burial of Brigadier General Oseni Braimah, Captain Ismail and other soldiers who were killed in a recent insurgent attack in Borno State.

The fallen personnel were laid to rest with full military honours at the Maimalari Cantonment Cemetery in Maiduguri, in what the Army described as a solemn and emotional ceremony.

According to the Army, the officers and soldiers were killed on April 9 when suspected Boko Haram and Islamic State West Africa Province fighters carried out coordinated attacks on military positions in Benisheikh, Kaga Local Government Area.

The service, attended by top government and military officials, was held in honour of the troops’ sacrifice in the line of duty.

Among dignitaries present were Governor Babagana Zulum and the Chief of Defence Staff, Christopher Musa, alongside other senior officers.

They described the deceased as patriots who paid the ultimate price in defence of the nation.

During the ceremony, prayers were offered for the repose of the fallen soldiers, while citations highlighting their service records were read in the presence of grieving family members.
