The Indigenous People of Biafra has warned members and factions within the organisation against defying the authority of its detained leader, Nnamdi Kanu, declaring that violators risk suspension, removal from office and expulsion.
The warning was contained in a statement issued on Friday by the group’s Media and Publicity Secretary, Emma Powerful, amid a growing leadership dispute within the movement.
According to IPOB, the crisis followed the dissolution of the third administration of its Directorate of State led by Chika Edoziem and the inauguration of a new leadership headed by United States-based Chris Nwaọgụ.
The group maintained that Kanu acted within powers granted by its Code of Conduct and remains the only individual authorised to appoint, suspend or dismiss principal officers.
IPOB said any attempt to undermine its command structure or disregard directives from its leader would attract disciplinary action, stressing that the era of indiscipline and unauthorised power struggles within the organisation had ended.
