2027: Umahi Says Peter Obi Is Frustrated, Dismisses Death Threat Claims

Minister of Works David Umahi has dismissed claims that former Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi is facing death threats, insisting that nobody wants him dead and describing the allegation as a sign of frustration ahead of the 2027 general election.

Speaking during an inspection of President Bola Tinubu’s legacy projects in Ebonyi State on Friday, Umahi warned Obi against criticising the President, saying he would respond if Tinubu was attacked.

He argued that the Federal Government’s ongoing infrastructure projects and development efforts in the South-East have weakened Obi’s political influence in the region.

According to Umahi, the growing support for Tinubu in the South-East reflects public satisfaction with the administration’s performance rather than the political sentiments seen during the last election.

He maintained that Obi should remain alive to participate in the next presidential contest, expressing confidence that he would lose the election again.
