The race for the 2027 presidential ticket of the All Progressives Congress officially gained traction on Tuesday as the party commenced the sale of expression of interest and nomination forms in Abuja.
The exercise, held at the Continental Hotel and the Ladi Kwali International Conference Centre, marked the formal take-off of the party’s internal electoral process ahead of its primaries scheduled for May 23.
In a key development, Chairman of the House Committee on Appropriation, James Faleke, picked up the nomination forms on behalf of President Bola Tinubu, signalling the early mobilisation for the president’s re-election bid within the party structure.
Faleke, a long-standing political ally of the president, carried out the exercise in the presence of senior party officials, reinforcing internal party alignment ahead of the primaries.
The nomination forms were officially handed over to him by a delegation of the party’s National Working Committee led by Deputy National Chairman (North), Abubakar Dalori, alongside the National Organising Secretary, Sulaiman Muhammad Argungu.
Other party officials present during the exercise included Deputy National Publicity Secretary Duro Meseko, National Vice Chairman (North Central), Bawa Rijau, and National Women Leader Dr. Mary Aliele.
The commencement of the sales process effectively signals the APC’s transition into full-scale pre-election activities, following an earlier postponement of the exercise.
