Abba Abubakar, son of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, has officially defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC), pledging to work for President Bola Tinubu’s re-election in 2027.
The announcement was made on Thursday at the National Assembly, where he was received by Deputy Senate President Barau Jibrin and other APC leaders from the North-East.
Speaking at the event, Abba described his decision as personal and historic, declaring his resignation from the PDP and alignment with the ruling party.
He directed members of his political structure, the Haske Atiku Organisation, to join the APC and mobilise support for Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
APC leaders welcomed the move, describing it as a major political realignment. Abba’s group was also renamed the Haske Bola Tinubu Organisation, signalling full support for the President’s second-term bid.
