A Muslim trader, Sa’idu Murtala, has recounted how a Christian resident sheltered him during a deadly attack in Rukuba area of Jos on March 29.
The violence, which erupted on Palm Sunday, reportedly claimed over 40 lives and triggered widespread panic across the community.
Murtala, who sells garden eggs in the area, said he was attending to customers when gunshots suddenly rang out, forcing residents to flee for safety.
Amid the chaos, he said a Christian man opened his home and offered him refuge despite knowing his religious background.
He was reportedly hidden in a room, fed, and kept safe overnight until the situation stabilised and his family was contacted.
Murtala described the act as life-saving, stressing that humanity transcends religious differences.
He added that his colleague, Hassan, remains missing following the incident, as efforts to reach him have so far proved unsuccessful.
