Aliyu Bin Abbas, a former political aide to ex-Vice President Atiku Abubakar, has emerged as the presidential candidate of the Action Democratic Party for the 2027 general election.
Abbas secured the party’s ticket during the ADP National Convention held in Abuja early Saturday, with party delegates endorsing his candidacy amid growing political realignments ahead of the next election cycle.
Following the announcement of the results, supporters celebrated what party officials described as a major step in positioning the ADP as a viable alternative in Nigeria’s political landscape.
Addressing concerns about his relationship with Atiku, Abbas said his presidential ambition is entirely independent and not connected to any former political alliance.
He described his candidacy as a youth-driven movement focused on national renewal, economic transformation and inclusive governance.
ADP National Chairman Yabagi Yusuf Sani said the party remains committed to transparency, internal democracy and providing Nigerians with leadership centered on service, competence and national unity ahead of 2027.
